Global Challenge
Climate change, desertification, and soil erosion are escalating global threats that affect over 60% of the land on Earth. Our only option to fight these issues is to deploy large-scale solutions. ABS tackles this epic challenge by using nature-based biodegradable tools to naturally rebuild soil health and restore ecosystems.
We know our goals are nothing short of earth-changing, but so is our commitment to healing the planet.
Our Goals
End desertification by effectively breaking the drought cycle
Achieve sustainable carbon draw-down at scale
Establish carbon-negative business practices from Day 1 of production
Champion zero-waste business processes
Pioneer a new domestic bamboo industry

Introducing
Nature’s Needle
Nature’s Needle is a biodegradable vessel that aims to break the drought cycle and revitalize degraded land by injecting a custom blend of organic “soil medicine” into the ground below the surface while providing shade to the topsoil. It can be tailored to fit the specific needs of each site, offering an unparalleled ultra-customizable approach to soil regeneration.
Dig into the Details
Each unit is made from a single stalk of cured bamboo. The stalk is filled halfway with a tailored mix of soil, native seeds, and/or organic matter, depending on the specific needs of the site. The stalk is modified with drainage holes at the bottom and an opening at the top. The top half of the bamboo stalk provides a shaded container for the contents inside to ensure maximum moisture retention.
Once inserted vertically into the ground, Nature’s Needle acts like a soil syringe. The bamboo stalk serves as both a biodegradable planter and a moisture-retaining structure for new vegetation, gradually releasing nutrients and microbes into the surrounding soil. Over time, a plant grows out the top, the roots spread deep into the earth, and the bamboo stalk slowly breaks down. All the while, the leaves provide optimal shade to the ground surface, reducing evaporation and blocking harmful UV rays. This setup naturally increases moisture retention, shades the ground, and boosts microbial activity, ultimately breaking the drought cycle.
Nature’s Needles can be deployed nearly anywhere on land from degraded landscapes to eroded shorelines. It’s ideal for restoring native ecosystems, regenerative agriculture, and erosion control. Because the design is highly customizable, it can be adapted to various climates, soil conditions, and ecological needs of nearly any location. And because it is made of all natural biodegradable materials, it offers a “set it and forget it” implementation.
How it works
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Bamboo is a perpetually harvestable, abundant material that's perfect for a chemical-free, emission-free manufacturing process due to its physical characteristics.
-
No, we do not plant any bamboo. The ultra-customizable nature of our products allows the site’s needs to dictate what configuration we deploy, including what species to plant, if any.
-
We infuse the bamboo with beneficial microbes. As the unit breaks down, the bamboo itself nourishes the surrounding environment allowing for a “set it and forget it” approach. No cleanup required, no synthetic chemicals left behind. Just natural medicine for Mother Nature.
-
Yes, really! All raw materials are carbon-negative and our products are carbon-negative. All business processes are clean and emission-free. “Carbon-negative by Day 1 of production” is in our sights.
